Betsson Announced as Title Sponsor of A1 Padel Tournament in Sweden

A1 Padel, formerly known as APT, was originally scheduled to be held in Båstad, Sweden last year but faced a last-minute relocation to Tenerife. However, this summer it is finally Sweden’s role to host the much-awaited seven-day long tournament on the main plaza in Halmstad. The Betsson Swedish Master offers a prize pool of one million SEK (€86.5k / £74k). Attendees and viewers alike can expect a great show from the pitch as participants include top-ranked players Maximiliano Arce and Franco Dal Bianco as well as the illustrious star Leo “Tolito” Aguirre.

“We are delighted to join forces with Betsson as the title sponsor for this summer’s biggest padel event. Betsson is one of the operators that has demonstrated most commitment to the sport over the years. Moreover, they are actively involved in South America, the birthplace of many exceptional attending players. I am sure that with Betsson’s support, alongside the odds, will elevate the experience for the live spectators as well as those watching the live broadcast on ESPN,” stated Christer Garell, CEO of A1Padel Sweden.

Betsson’s ambassador, Cayetano Rocafort, winner of two APT competitions in 2021, said, “I have lived in Sweden for five years and witnessed how quickly the sport has developed. The Betsson Swedish Master is another great example of how it’s thriving and I’m very excited to see world-class padel players from all over the world.”

Commenting on the sponsorship, Mattias Wennerkvist, Managing Director of Betsson Sweden, said, “We are immensely proud to support A1 Padel in Halmstad. As keen followers of the sport, it is an honour for us to be associated with this event, just as we have been for numerous other padel initiative over the years. Our dedication goes beyond mere sponsorship, as we will closely follow the intense action, conduct exclusive player interviews, provide competitive betting odds, and, above all, enjoy the privilege of witnessing world-class padel unfold before our eyes.”

The A1 tour spans across 18 locations worldwide, making it a truly international spectacle surpassing the World Padel Tour (WPT). With distinguished cities like New York, Miami, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and Cape Town already gracing its roster, Halmstad proudly joins this elite group of renowned host cities.

Beyond Betsson’s partnership with Sweden’s leading player, Cayetano Rocafort, Betsson is also the proud primary partner of Sweden’s FIP tournament, which is currently underway. Furthermore, last year Betsson launched Sweden’s first nationwide amateur tournament – Betsson Padel Tour – which was highly successful.
